From Our Group Last Night

Was re-reading this this morning. A good word for today!

Hello, My Name Is Doug

From my journal…

We read Acts 7:23-34 last night at our group. Some things struck me hard!

V25: “He [Moses] supposed that his brothers would understand that God was giving them salvation by his hand, but they did not understand.”

He was working in his own power to accomplish what God wanted to do. Clearly, God didn’t want the people suffering under this terrible oppression. But he did it with his own tools and in his own way (killing the Egyptian).

V34 (as Moses was meeting the burning bush): “I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their groaning, and I have come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send you to Egypt.”

Moses was part of God’s plan, but look at who was doing the delivering. GOD! No longer was Moses trying to accomplish good plans without God’s…

Happy Thought For Today

Tuesday in our morning devotion here, we talked through Romans 5:6-11.

For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. (Romans 5:6-11 ESV)

Someone mentioned a conversation with a guest from the outside, and asked, “If God loves us, why would He only provide one way in Jesus?”

Someone quickly replied, “Why would He even make one way?”

That’ll stick with me forever. You and I are enemies of God without Christ. Why would anyOne make way for their enemies by killing their Son? What LOVE!
